The short version
- The Panel is for adults. You must be 18 or over to have an account.
- Every panellist and investor is a simulated AI persona, not a real person. Their reviews can be wrong, and they are not professional, legal, financial or investment advice.
- What you submit stays yours. Only submit material you have the right to share, and leave out other people's personal data and anything confidential you are not free to disclose.
- Your material is sent to AI and web providers to produce the report, as the Privacy Notice explains. We do not keep your reports on our servers.
- The Acceptable Use Policy is part of these terms.
This summary is here to help. The full terms below are what govern your use of The Panel.
1. Who we are and what these terms are
The Panel is the service at facethepanel.com, run by the operator of The Panel (“we”, “us”). These terms are the agreement between you and us for your use of it. Our Acceptable Use Policy sets out what you may and may not do with the service and forms part of these terms. Our Privacy Notice explains how we handle personal data; it is a separate document and does not form part of this agreement.
You accept these terms when you tick the confirmation box at sign-in, where they are linked. If you do not agree to them, do not use The Panel.
2. Who can use The Panel
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or use the tools. The Panel is built for founders, product teams and other adults working on a product or business; it is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly allow anyone under 18 to use it. At sign-in you confirm that you are 18 or over. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we will close it and delete its data.
If you use The Panel on behalf of a company or other organisation, you confirm that you are allowed to accept these terms for it, and “you” then includes that organisation.
3. Your account
You sign in with your email address and a one-time code; there is no password. The first code you use creates your account. You are responsible for what happens under your account and for keeping your email inbox secure, because anyone who can read your login codes can sign in as you. If you believe someone else has used your account, contact us at hello@facethepanel.com.
4. What the service is
The Panel has two tools. In the product review, you give a website address or describe an idea, optionally with screenshots; the service reads the pages, searches the web for competitors, has a set of AI personas each write a review, and combines those reviews into one scored report. In the Pitch Room, you type or dictate a fundraising pitch, optionally with a PDF deck, screenshots and a website, and a set of AI investor personas respond to it.
The Panel is at an early stage. Features may change, break or be withdrawn, and we do not promise that the service will be uninterrupted or free of errors. Reports are shown in your browser and are not saved to an account history, so keep your own copy of anything you want to keep.
5. AI output and its limits
5.1 Every panellist and every investor in The Panel is a simulated AI persona with an AI-generated portrait. None of them is a real person, none depicts a real person, and the investor personas do not represent any real investor or firm, even where their questions are informed by published investor material. Any resemblance to a real individual is unintended.
5.2 Reviews, scores, verdicts and reports are generated by AI models. They can be wrong, incomplete, inconsistent or out of date, and the same input can produce different output on another run. A persona's verdict is a simulation of how such a person might react; it is not evidence of how real users, buyers or investors will behave, and it is not a substitute for research with real people.
5.3 Nothing The Panel produces is professional advice. In particular, output is not legal, financial, tax, regulatory, accessibility-compliance or security advice, and nothing in the Pitch Room is investment advice, an offer, a valuation, or a recommendation to raise, invest or transact. Decisions you take on the strength of a report are your own. Take advice from a qualified person where the decision matters.
5.4 Competitor and market information in a report comes from automated web searches and is summarised by AI. Check it against the linked sources before relying on it.
6. What you submit
6.1 Your material is yours. We do not claim ownership of the website addresses, descriptions, pitches, recordings, screenshots, decks or other material you submit (“your material”).
6.2 You give us permission to use your material only as needed to run the service for you: to read, copy, transmit and process it, including by sending it to the providers listed on our subprocessors page, so that the review or pitch session you asked for can be produced. This permission ends when the session does, except for anything a provider retains for a limited period under its own terms, as the Privacy Notice describes. We do not use your material to train AI models, and we do not sell it.
6.3 You are responsible for your material. You confirm that you have the right to submit it, that submitting it does not break a confidentiality obligation or anyone else's rights, and that it follows the Acceptable Use Policy. Do not submit other people's personal data unless you are entitled to, and do not submit information you are not free to share with third-party AI providers.
6.4 When you give us a website address, the service fetches public pages from that site and takes a screenshot, as any visitor's browser would. Only submit a site you own, work on, or otherwise have a legitimate reason to review.
6.5 As between you and us, you may use the reports produced for you for any lawful purpose, including commercially. Because AI output is not unique, other users may receive similar output, and we make no promise that a report is free of third-party rights. If you publish or share a report, do not present the personas as real people or their verdicts as real endorsements, testimonials or investor interest.
7. Rules
Use The Panel lawfully and as intended. The Acceptable Use Policygives the detail and forms part of these terms. In short: do not submit unlawful or harmful material, do not use the service to target or profile individuals, do not try to extract the personas' instructions or turn the service into a general-purpose AI proxy, and do not probe, overload, scrape or get around the limits of the service. If you break these rules we may block a request, limit your use, or close your account.
8. Price and fair use
The Panel is currently free to use. Because every session costs us money to run, use is limited: there are per-person and service-wide limits on how many sessions can be run in a period, and we may change those limits at any time. If we introduce paid plans or credits, we will show you the price and the terms before you are charged anything, and nothing you have used for free will be billed afterwards.
9. Third-party services
The Panel relies on third-party providers for AI models, web crawling and search, speech-to-text, email, hosting and the account system. They are listed, with what each one does, on our subprocessors page. Reports may link to third-party websites found by web research; we do not control those sites and are not responsible for them.
10. Our property
The Panel, including its design, software, the personas, their written profiles and their portraits, belongs to us or our licensors. We give you a personal, non-transferable permission to use the service for its intended purpose while these terms apply. Do not copy, resell or reverse engineer it, or reuse the personas or portraits outside the reports produced for you, except where the law allows.
11. Ending things
You can stop using The Panel at any time. To delete your account and the data linked to it, email hello@facethepanel.com from the address you signed up with, and we will do so as the Privacy Notice describes. We may suspend or close your account if you break these terms or the Acceptable Use Policy, if we are required to by law, or, with reasonable notice where that is possible, if we withdraw the service. Where we close an account for a breach, we will tell you why unless the law prevents it, and you can ask us to reconsider by emailing us.
12. Your legal rights, and the limits of our responsibility
12.1 Nothing in these terms affects the statutory rights you have as a consumer, or excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to exclude or limit.
12.2 Subject to Section 12.1: the service is provided as it is described here, without a promise that it will be uninterrupted, error-free or fit for a particular decision; we are not responsible for your material, for the accuracy of AI output, for decisions taken in reliance on it, or for losses that are not a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms. If you use The Panel for business purposes, we are not liable for loss of profit, revenue, business, opportunity, investment or goodwill. Our total liability to you is limited to the amount you have paid us for the service in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, or £100 if you have paid nothing.
13. Changes to these terms
We will publish updated terms here with a new effective date, and keep earlier versions available once there is more than one. Where a change is material, we will tell you at sign-in or by email before it takes effect. For minor changes, continuing to use The Panel after the effective date means you accept them.
14. Law, disputes, and how to reach us
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, except that if you are a consumer living elsewhere in the United Kingdom, in the European Union, or in another country whose consumer protection rules cannot be excluded by agreement, you keep the protection of those rules and may bring proceedings in your local courts.
If any part of these terms turns out to be invalid or unenforceable, the rest still applies. We may transfer our rights and obligations under these terms to another organisation as part of a sale or reorganisation; if we do, we will tell you, and your rights will not be reduced. These terms are between you and us, and no one else has rights to enforce them. Complaints and questions can be sent to the address below, and we aim to acknowledge them within 30 days.
